Objectivity in Art

Last night I saw "The Onion Cellar", a Dresden Dolls performance, at the Arrow Theatre with Akiko and her friends Ann and Liz.

Akiko doesn't (allow herself to) react emotionally to externali. On the rare occasions when she does I think she is intrinsically disappointed. I think that is why she is such an excellent fan and critic of the arts. While most observers permit themselves to enjoy and judge a performance by relating it to their personal experiences, fears and joys, she remains pristinely objective.
